150 ml port
1 small cinnamon stick
1/2 vanilla pod
1 rounded tbsp soft brown sugar
250 gram fresh cherries
2 fresh figs
good quality vanilla ice cream, to serve

Place the port in a pan with the cinamon, vanilla and sugar and simmer over a low heat for 2-3 minutes, until reduced by about half.

Meanwhile, remove the stones from the cherries using a cherry or olive stoner and cut the figs into quarters.

Add the cherries to the pan and cook for 2 minutes, then add the figs and cook for a further minute. Remove from the heat and allo to cool slightly before serving with scoops of ice cream. Enjoy your meal!
